I've gotten all the bolts/nuts/snap rings etc. out and the tranny is hanging about 3 inches from the engine. It will not come out however no matter the angle of the jack. It seems to be hitting the firewall. My car has a 318 engine. It looked like the pan is a lot closer to the crossmember than the one on the 76. Thoughts??

Thanks - Trent

under the front of the motor on the oil pan to tilt it back a little??
That will help you tilt it to the rear to allow the tranny to come out easier.
I wouldnt have the tranny hanging by the input shaft though, (bad ju ju) maybe slide it back in and stick a bolt or 2 back in figure out the tilting thing and maybe drop the center tie rod link to make it easier also.
good luck,
