Mostly because it would keep trunk rattle to a minimum, but also so the sound doesn't have to go through the seat.

Actually, ported boxes don't givr the best sound quality either way. Sealed boxes are give tighter, more accurate bass, but need more watts and generally aren't as loud.

into the cabin?
anyone know which would be better?

my interior is stripped right now but the guy before me put really thick carpeting/padding, clarion cd, 2 sony 5 1/4" cones + tweeters in the doors and two 6 1/2" cones + tweaters in the rear side panels above the arm rests which is kind of a bummer but atleast they look good. I dont know what they sound like yet but i imagine its loud, hopefully decent sound. I made a custom ported box for two eclipse 8's that fits nicely between the wheel wells for my first 02 but i never got a chance to put them in. Maybe i'll put em in this one.

I was just wondering what kind of stereo systems fellow '02 drivers had in their cars. Perhaps I can improve the sound quality of what I have already installed, and I was just curious on what people had.

Me? I have 2 Pioneer 6x9's on the wall under the backseat, where you'd rest your feet. Also, a Kicker 15" subwoofer in a ported box resides in my trunk and two tweeters on the center console.

Any suggestions or stories are glady appreciated, thanks!
