The subframe is out of my '02 at the momemt so I was able to get a good look at this part. It appears to be simply a retacngular piece of steel with a slot cut in one end. A competent welder should be able to fix it.

A more elegant solution would be to remove the broken part by by grinding through the welds. Make a duplicate in heavier-gauge metal and weld it on.
