Oil leak from carb gasket??? (archive)

My 1975 2002 needs valve seals bad ( smoke on deceleration bad) I have been finding alot of oil seeping from the area around the carb gasket ( i have a weber 32/36) Anyone ever hear of this is it time for a new motor?? thanks
