one time only 315 miles really! (funny story) (archive)

hi,
so after seeing this 73 targa in NC i bought
it and my friend carl kept it for a few months
until i had a chance to drive it home.
so just at the entrance ramp i filled the tank
till i could see the fuel. driving along in the
new car and finally i look down to see the
odometer,which i reset at the station,shows
315 miles . i thought in 5th gear and a steady
pace i was doin' great. then i see a sign 1 mile
to three gas stations and then i look up and the car starts to die. quick clutch and coast 1/2
a mile to the side of the road.
well the mile hike wasn't so bad but i won't
forget to check a little more often.

I have a 74. Is that about average? Or am I consuming to much?
