Ran into the same problem a while back, but I actually got a (semi)reasonable answer to the "why" question - The guy I talked to said they're constrained to specific wheel fitments as listed by wheel manufacturers due to liability concerns.

It's aggravating has hell, but makes sense (in a backward sorta way) in our lawsuit happy world.... here's the example I got - some full size rear wheel drive passenger cars and trucks have the same bolt circle - If they sell some idiot a set of passenger car wheels knowing he wants 'em for his 9 passenger Suburban, then the guy loads up his family and hooks up an overloaded trailer, guess who's gonna be sued when a wheel that's way past it's design weight fails?

Tire Rack F@!K'n sucks when it comes to their sales people. Perhaps I kept getting dumbasses when I call. Their story is that if its not in the computer for that car, then you can't buy it(standard tech support flow chart. push the button that looks like a hamburger) I have never had anyone not want to sell me something, then I tried to look at e30 bmws but they (4 different sales people) wouldn't tell me the offset and etc..

mk

Why can't an enterprising web site provide a search by diameter and offset. I would sure like to search on 15x28 or 15x30.

I don't mind VM or ? rims as long as they have the offset and bolt pattern I need.
