in the area below the dash and in front of the doors. I put 6"x9" in the verticle carpeted sheet metal below the rear seat. Then I have 6½" round speakers in the area in front of the doors. You might need to space the round ones out from the area since there is not a whole lot of depth in this area. Some put the speakers in the rear package area behind the rear seat, but you may have to move the some of the vapor recoverary equipment located below the package shelf that is in the trunk of later year cars.

I would never put the sepakers in the doors since they will likely get wet from the water that run down the inside of the door, and the obvious damage to the door panels. Carpet is easier to replace than door panels for those who might want to restore the vehicle later.

Of course, these are just my opinions and your milage may vary.

on my '74 2002, no speaker holes in the door panels or the vinyl covered fiberboard panel behind the rear seat backrest section. Again, just my preference/opinion also.
