OK, this happened to me.

MAKE SURE THAT YOUR WIRES ARE CONNECTED CORRECTLY< BUT BEWARE OF TOUCHING.

If the grounds and positives are set-up right, you might have a positive touching the alternator housing, make sure that the washer is in place under that hook-up. Then connect. If it looks like it's going to touch the housing of the alt., bend the wire back a bit.
