I live in Tacoma, and have worked in the Bremerton / Port Orchard / Silverdale etc. area for years. There are some really nice people out there, but Bremerton is definitly a Navy town. That is not to say that it is bad, but a chef with lots of beer and hot wings experience would have a lot more luck than it sounds like you would. The ferry system is scenic, but because of beach erosion, they are about to slow down the one from Bremerton to Seattle so it will stretch that trip out by about 50%, and they are not cheap to boot. The area does have a nice pace of life, and a major metropolitan area is within reach when you want to have fun, and as I said, the Kisap County area has some of the nicest people around.
