Last September I did a little 4-city business-travel tour. Now, I'm an east-coast boy all my 25 years...grew up in New York's Mid-Hudson Valley region and moved to the Baltimore area about seven years ago. Anyway, I spent several days in Tacoma for business and *loved* it out there. If I wasn't so firmly rooted in the eastern seaboard (family, fiance, etc) I would pick up and go there tomorrow. Laid back, pleasant temps, not *always* foggy, neat houses, neat cars. And the paper plants don't smell that bad, either. I went from Tacoma to Dallas/Ft. Worth (by way of five minutes in Vegas) for two days. Now, there's different strokes for different folks, to be sure, but I did not care for Texas at all. Brown, dry, wretchedly hot, and road signs too damn small for an out of towner to read while travelling at 70 mph in a rented Grand Vitara at 4:00am after the redeye from SeaTac. I still don't know how I found my way from DFW to my hotel. Couldn't leave Texas fast enough, though I think I would take it over Dayton (the third city I visited) if forced to choose between the two (just to offend a part of the country previously uninvolved in this discussion). Oh, and the last city on my tour was Colorado Springs...that was neat too.
Just my silly wanker east-coast tighta** impressions,
Tim
