Door panel fake chrome rehab (archive)

Hi all --

Spent this afternoon trying to bring my door panels back to life. I had bought a roll of 3M 850 tape (silver) a few months ago but put off the task until today. Here are some photos...

The pre-74 panels have this huge strip underneath the vent window -- as you can see, my fake chrome has peeled off entirely.




I covered the strip with a piece of the 3M tape.





Trim with an X-Acto that is sharp enough to cut the tape but dull enough to not slice up your vinyl.



Here's the finished product. I might try this one again -- the surface must be absolutely clean for the tape to stick to the edges of the raised area.
