Here is how I did it.
-Unplug starter wire from starter.
-Remove panels underneath steering column to get access to back of ignition switch.
-Find the starter wire with a test light. I think it is solid Black.
-Pull it off the ignition switch.
-Make sure wire is disconnected from starter and put the car in neutral to be safe.
- Put a test light on the ignition switch terminal that you removed the wire from.
- Turn the key to start and the light should light up.
-If so, you have the right wire.
-Remove ground strap from battery.
- Extend the black wire to where you want the starter button.
-I removed my cigarette lighter on the dash and put it in that place (you need a firm
mounting point ) Will need to remove the instrument cluster to get back behind the there.
- Run a heavy gauge (same as black wire) positive line to the position as well.
-Connect the new positive line and the extended black line from the starter to the push
button.
Summit racing has a 35 amp starter button (SUM-G1433) for $7.99 .1-800 230-3030.
-Reconnect the wire at the starter and battery.
Now you will turn the key to accessories to energize the car. Turning to start should do
nothing.
The push button will only turn over the starter.
Turn the key off like normal to kill the ignition.
Good luck
