In Reply to: Conflicting Info - E12 Alternator Upgrade mods?? posted by mikem on September 25, 2001 at 12:18:32:

I've received conflicting posts about this question.

One said that its bolt-in, no mods required at all.

The other said that you need to re-route a blue regulator wire because the E12 alternator is internally regulated.

WHICH IS IT?

I initially liked the E12 solution because I thought it was:

a) Had solid bushings
b) Totally bolt-in
c) More amperage

If a later E12 (1979-81) alternator is not totally bolt-in, is an earlier one (1977) better for my criteria?

Thanks for any clarification.
