Concerned about "Inspection I" and dealer screwups (archive)

I purchased a 1997 M3/4 a few months ago, and after 18000 miles the Inspection light finally came on. I'm going into Peter Pan BMW next week for the free service. When I bought it w/14500 miles, I switched it to Mobil 1 15w50 and Redline in the tranny and differential.

I'm assuming that I should bring in another 7 quarts of Mobil 1, tell the dealer not to mess with the tranny/differential oil, and most importantly not mess with the engine computer's firmware (to avoid the "sputter when cold" problem). Any chance they'll actually respect my wishes? Any other things to watch out for or tactics to use? Thanks in advance...Mark
