Thanks, Dave, for not answering my question in any
way, shape, or form. (-:

: May it is me Jeff, but doing some simple math and calculating your own's car's average MPG will tell you approximately how many miles are left in your gas tank before empty. The MPG is figured very easily without the OBC. There is always an odometer on the E46 which will give you how many miles since you took off from your trip.

: I fail to see why this 4 function computer (more like a fancy calculator) is useful and costs $300. I for one, would take that $300, add another $200, and get xenons or wood instead and do my own math.

: BTW, the other function of the E46 OBC is the outside temperature which can be easily learned by tuning into all news radio station on your radio if you don't know it already by the time your are driving your BMW.

: I do not mean to put you down for getting it Jeff, but I cannot justify the $300 for this basic primitive feature of the 3 series. If it came standard, I would not rip it out of my dash. But paying $300 for it, no thanks.

: Dave
