IMHO the E46 has a very, very nice and comfortable interior. I've seen the A4's interior in pictures (never sat in one, and I don't think I want to), and as far as I can tell it's nothing to write home about.

Personally I think if you're gonna go FWD the Maxima is a better car than the A4. And the 328i is the nicest (by far) of the three.

Oh.. I have a question about BMW's split rear folding seats. Is there a chassis reinforcement behind the rear seats that is removed with the fold-down option? I mean is the E46 without the folding seats stiffer than the one with them? I know the Max has the reinforcement there.. (no folding seats even optional, only a pass thru). --Andi

: I also like the new BMW E46 better than the Audi A4 and agree with most of your statements. However, I do think the Audi is better than the BMW in 2 areas. The first is the interior. The BMW E46 is an improvement to the E36 (IMHO) but still not as nice as the Audi. The second is in value for your money. You can get a lot more options in the Audi and still pay the same as you would for a new E46. What really hurts is when BMW charges for options like split rear folding seats. I'd like to see both cars sell well because competition will give the consumer an even better product.
