New E46 automatic has Adaptive Control (previously found in 5- and 7- series). So who adapts to what :-)?
Sometimes I floor it, sometimes I don't... what exactly does it do for me?

Also, it has "economy", "sport" and "manual" modes. I've read this is not like in M3 where there's a switch. According to www.bmwusa.com, transmission is in "sport" mode when it is shiften on 4th or 3rd gear. Ok, I can understand that: sort mode, don't really need overdrive. But what about manual mode? What is manual mode anyway? Can't you downshift ANY automatic???
