thanks for the info, bruce. actually the E30 M3 site you suggested was one of the first i checked out. Performance Car magazine (before it went defunct) had a buyers guide section and featured the M3 (european models only--UK mag) but i didn't know what changed in the US versions. they mainly said to check the gearbox/clutch, suspension, etc. any idea how much the '98 M3 lightweight is going for? thanks again, i'll be checking my area for used M3's soon!
