: Last night, my 325i was subjected to severe rainfall with a fair dose of wind. As a consequence, when I tried to start the car, it would turn over, but would not fire. I had it towed to BMW dealer who explained that water had leaked through the venting system and leaked into the box containing the computer. It is quite possible that the computer is fried and new one would be required. Major bucks. Has anyone heard of this happening before? A technician I was speaking to said he had seen this once before and a possible solution is to drill two fime holes in the bottom of the casing to ensure drainage. I find all of this difficult to accept.

Your comprehensive insurance should cover this. It's storm damage, just as if a tree had fallen on the car.
