My '99 M3 coupe stated on the sticker on the inside of the windshield:

First 1200 miles:
No full throttle
No going past 5500 rpm
No going faster than 106mph
1200-3100miles:
No going 137mph for extended periods.

Gee, that last one will be hard to stick to here in the states. ;) I did exceed 5500 rpms about a dozen times before 1200 miles but only to make sure I got into traffic safely. I think the engine will live. I changed the oil at 1800 miles but it's not scheduled until the service lights come on (I'm told between 7000 and 9000 miles usually).

: Just curious, what are the procedures for breaking into new Bimmers? Thanks!
