Proper Tyres for '95M3 (archive)

I realize this topic has been revisited and revisited, but one more go please. Firstly, any update on the Pilot Sports. I saw them on new M3 Cabrios here in North Carolina but do not see them listed in Tire Rack, Michelin's home page or at the NTB next door to my dealership. They appear to have a similar tread design to the Potenza's so I wonder if it is Michelin's answer to weaker performance in the wet. What do you think of the Potenza's in terms of performance, design (i.e. do they look good) and availability (I've heard the Michelin's are hard to get).

Also, I bought my '95 pre-owned a few months ago and noticed that it has 235-40-17s front and rear, but the wheels appear to be 7.5s in the front and 8.5s in the rear... does this make sense... was this standard... should I upsize the width of the rear tyres?

Thanks in advance...

Patrick

PS: Anyone going to M Day USA on Saturday... I've got my parking pass ready to go!
