The car is a 1994.

: What Year Is Your Car? There have been many extensive articles on this "common E36" problem (see Roundel magazine, Nov. 1998). I've heard the drain problem has been fixed on newer E36s, that's why I'm asking you the year of your car. Mine is a 1998. I hope I don't have to deal with this one.

: : Last night, my 325i was subjected to severe rainfall with a fair dose of wind. As a consequence, when I tried to start the car, it would turn over, but would not fire. I had it towed to BMW dealer who explained that water had leaked through the venting system and leaked into the box containing the computer. It is quite possible that the computer is fried and new one would be required. Major bucks. Has anyone heard of this happening before? A technician I was speaking to said he had seen this once before and a possible solution is to drill two fime holes in the bottom of the casing to ensure drainage. I find all of this difficult to accept.
