For all those who haven't heard. Jim C. announced a relationship with RD (of engine tuning fame) that basically means that the chip upgrade will be done locally at Turner, Euro and all of the RD distributors. He is also seriously hinting at the fact that he is developing his own line of superchargers, engine mods, etc for use with customized software from him.

He also has been talking a lot about the fact that OBDII M3's major power problem is that the intake valves are to small for the size of the engine and thus not a lot of power can be gained unless you go to forced induction or full head/valve redesign. Basically he says that there are two distinct levels, lower (and only worth about 20-25HP max) would be intake/chip/exhaust and then your upper level of new valves, cams, etc. The 3.2 engine has the same basic structure as the 3.0 and thus the valves are not letting enough air in at high rpms because they were not redesigned for the larger bore. He hints at major power gains being possible with new valves/head that he is developing.

Just thought I would share the info. I am off for a baseline dyno run tomorrow and then the toys start coming soon after. Gotta do something to keep life interesting after the snow tires go on...

Regards,
Preston
