:Although BMW puts the little plastic badges in the trunk saying pre-wired on the left side, the CD player and the wires are on the right side above the battery. On the underside of the trunk on the right side should be a small bracket with two threaded bolts (painted in body color). That's what 1995-1996s have. Hope yours is the same. Behind the panel and usually doubled up and taped are two small plugs, one is power and ground and the other is as I recall 3 wires. The BMW installation manual for the factory unit gives good instructions on installations. Anyone know what the prewired CD changer plug and cable looks like in a 97 E36? Looked behind the panel and there are no loose wires.
