If you are looking for an auto tranny, I really think Bimmer is not the kinda car you would want. I would say BMW has one of the best manual transmission in the market. Not trying to say their automatic transmission sucks, but then I think maybe a Toyota's auto would be somewhat smoother!?! BMW had spent a great deal of time on their stick shift rather than on their auto tranny. It's all up to you. But if I were you, I would definitely go for stick with a BMW 3-series. The only way to the most out of a 323/328 is to get a stick shift and experience it... Good Luck on your purchase!
