Your concerns are warranted. Those little bugs are a reality in every new car. Your two options are waiting six monthes for BMW to ID and fix these problems. Or, if you can't wait, buy the Bimmer knowing that it might have problems. Otherwise, start shopping for alternatives.
: I am very nervous. Here my problem/dilemma:
: I have just read the board from the last few days and some horror stories have been posted by some new E46 owners, especially by one owner, Tony, whose cars leaked fuel because he had fuel injector problems as well as a whole bunch of other guys with minor complaints. Do you guys remember reading this poor guy whose car has turned out to be a lemon and he was asking for legal advice? His post is on this page (Jason). This would be a nightmare for anyone.
: I ask you new owners or even used E36 owners this question:
: Do you guys really think buying a new E46 is like getting a brand new car with lots of bugs still to be worked out by BMW or it is a fine-tuning of the old E36 and if anything, I should be worried less since the car is an evolution of the old, instead of whole new model with everything new from the engine to the ashtray.
: I was about to go this weekend and put up my $500 with a local dealer and after reading your board yesterday and today, I am about to change my mind and get another car like the C230K, or the A4 2.8 Quattro. If you guys can somehow put all this into perspective, it would be greatly appreciated and I can maybe sleep well tonight and commit to my dealer for a 323i order for a February delivery.
: Sincerely Yours,
: Frank N.
