Before I spent money on hiring my own attorney, I'd contact 1) BMW (although I think you've got more issues with your dealer than you do with BMW.) and, if you don't get satisfaction from BMW and/or your dealer, 2) the state, county, or local office of consumer affairs (most states' attorneys-general have an office of consumer affairs -some counties and cities do as well). I might also engage the services of a well recommended (in many states AAA can make such a recommendation if you don't know of any) independent auto mechanic, one with a lot of BMW experience, to evaluate my car and give me his opinion (in writing) which I could submit to the office of consumer affairs or, if necessary, my attorney.
