This is the only approved safe method of repairing a puncture on a V or Z speed rated tire. If it's on your sister-in-laws Corsica than it's o.k. to go with a plug. A vulcanized patch is a little more costly and inconvenient because the tire has to be taken off the wheel but if you plan on doing any driving the the triple digits arena than I strongly suggest a patch.
