One thing that I think sets BMW apart from common car companies like Ford/GM and a lot of the Japanese companies is the method of delivery from the port to the dealer.

BMW transports the cars within a covered trailer which prevents road crap and rocks from impacting the vehicle during transport.

I know this doesn't prevent other incidents from happening, but it makes the chance of simple rock dings much less.
