Already with the higher powered engine, I'm quite satisfied with the auto -- as far as auto goes...

In my daily commutes and drives there's a lot of slow, stop-&-go traffic. Manual would be a pill. In addition, I don't like the idea of having to replace a clutch every so often. With auto of course there's no transmission component replacements

There are times however when traffic clears up and I do really wish I had the 6-speed manual. There's good reason that BMW still provides manual and those are the times I really miss it.

So it depends naturally on your driving routines, and maybe if your SO/friend is able to drive manual.

Hoping not to make the decision difficult... but then again, if there *was* an E46 6-speed 328i on the dealers lot, I think I really would have chosen it. After the 328i is a really fun car -- manual enhances that.

Regards, Jon

: I am interested in comments regarding the new 5-speed automatic transmission (w/adaptive transmission control) on the 328i. In particular, I am interested in hearing from current owners of the 328i w/auto.
