Hmmm... You had an M3 yesterday...

This was his original post in the M3 board. He made some changes after realizing an M3 can't reach 9500rpm...

I just picked up my M3 and in a word...I love it!
But I have a question guys...I've never owned a car with a manual tranny before. As such, I've missed about 40 shifts in this car. Each time I hear
this grinding noise. Is this bad for the transmission? And now the darn thing won't shift into second? Could this be a by product of my shifting? I
also get this burning smell whenever leaving quickly from a stop light (its not tire smoke). The dealer says that I don't know how to drive, but I
don't think I'm that bad. Also my friend told me hold the car at about 9500 rmp in first gear every once in awhile to "clear the valves". Do you guys
do this to? Any suggestions would help. Thanks.
