VW GTI VR6 -- or -- 323is, Any thoughts... (archive)

I'm in the market for a new automobile. I'm leaning towards a new GTI VR6 because there are many aftermarket parts for it. Since the 323 is a new model I wouldn't think there are many aftermarket parts for it yet. Anyone modded out a 323 yet? The GTI seems like it would be faster than the 323 with mods. Any thoughts?
