For all you audiophiles out there who isn't into competitions and won't spend $800 on a head unit, here's a great head unit for you. I picked up the latest issue of Car Audio and Electronics which gave a brief review of the NEW Blaupunkt Alaska and thought this would be perfect for my new e46. It's ALL digital after it get's mixed down from the antenna into IF. (40Wx4) It looks good and one of the main reasons I'm looking only into Blaupunkt is because that's the only unit which matches closest to BMW's dash color. It's MSRP is $370. Check it out, I hope to get it installed some time in a few months.

And on the security side....

I saw an article on Command Link which retails for $149 and a one time activation fee of $25 with $35 annual charges.
It's comparable to Clifford's intellipage or virtual link. Basically you can control your car via a cell phone. You'll dial into a toll free number and control the windows, engine, locks, etc. Great anti carjacking device. The only downside I see from this is that you're limited to 30 calls a month and each additional is 25 cents. Not shabby for the dayas where you want you're car cooled down before you get in or forget yo lock your doors.

If anyone has these components, let us fans know so we can get some opinions.
