E46 owners: If given another chance... (archive)

Anybody have some hindsight about their new E46 and what they might have done if they were given another chance to shop "right"?

Options (to add with the base model 328i w/CD player).

  • HK sound system
  • and 17" inch rims (16" looks small in those wheel wells)

    • Pre-purchase test drive checklist.

  • all the lights including instrument panel
  • Shimmy and steering wheel alignment
  • Bumper fit to body (those loose clips) any gaps?
  • Listening for the boinng boing or rattling sounds in the cabin

    • After purchase.

  • See that the tech puts on the license plates correctly (mine gouged through the paint when screwing in the plates)
