Some drivers are experts at stick shifting and can engage the clutch, shift, and accelerate again very quickly, others need more time. Autos are pretty much the same for each car, just floor it and steer.

It also depends on the cars specific power. The owner of the auto 328 might get a car with more or less power than the BMW 193hp/206 lb ft. figure, and so can the 323i owner.

: But seriously you need to compare the cars head to head at the same temperature and relative humidity on the same road surface. This is the only way to be 100% sure.

: BMW may have marketing concerns that dictate what is printed in those brochures.
