Let's compare apples to apples, though. The US sales tax rate will be around 8%, depending on where you are. The Ontario PST is 8% - so it's even from that perspective.
There is also the Canadian GST (Federal) of 7%, but I believe you can get that back if you are not a Canadian resident.
Warranty is not a problem -I have had my Canadian car serviced in the US at the local BMW dealer for the last 2 years, under warranty.
I doubt resale value is a problem either.
Also, the US does have the 3 year free maintenance programme.

I called a few dealers in British Columbia and all were more than happy to sell indirectly to US Citizens, but when you add taxes the prices are about the same. Factor in other considerations like resale value and warranty, it's not worth it unless you really want the headlight washers. I'm pretty sure you can't get the free three year maintenance on a Canadian BMW in the US.
