Yeh, I understand what your talking about. I live in CT where there are few dealers and so on. When I bought my 98 E36 in July this year, I had to pay MSRP or they would have let me walk. At the time I wanted a 318i sedan E36 and they had stopped production on them. And the dealer had the only one within 200 miles...optioned exactly how I wanted it. Anyway, I shopped at Audi as-well and even though they were well-stocked with A4s they didn't want to "deal" either. I bought the bimmer because I liked the dealer better...smaller, single brand dealer. The Audi place sold at-least 10 car-models and was a real circus. I was at my dealer a couple weeks ago and mentioned that the E46 seems to be a hot seller. They said they were getting "above MSRP" offers for E46s. Also mentioned they would never accept that kind of offer either ;-) yeh, right.
: Steve, I understan what are you saying, but I believe that's not a case her in Miami. There are two dealers, and I stretched my inquiry to Palm Beach, which counted a total of 5 dealers. Still did not work... which just proved that dealers are generally a**holes and jerks. Now they have been in a good position because they have a hot car (i.e., 3-series). In addition, the Beemers have been selling like crazy here in Miami... people are actually standing in line no matter how much they will be charged...
: As I said, I do not want to get that crazed, so I decided to wait or to go somewhere else. So, when the time comes to replace my A4, I am kind of looking at the new MB C-class in 2000/01. One less Beemer-owner, I guess... (depending on the behavior of MB jerks, though, they may even be worse than Beemers')... We'll see, I have time - would like to spend that time in a Beemer, but if I cannot, than, well, I will keep my A4...
