told by some very knowledgable people not to expect it before February or March. Maybe we'll get lucky and Car and Driver (Or Road and Track, or Motor Trend or Automobile) will do us all a favor.. they have yet to test drive a 323 or the 99.5 A4. Maybe we'll see a comparison test soon? They tested the 2.8 versions of both, now its time to test the sub-$30,000 versions. PLEASE CAR AND DRIVER!

: Drive both the new E46 and the improved 99.5 A4 and buy the one you think is better. Both cars have pros and cons. From personal experience, the BMW is a bit sportier, and I prefer the heavier feel of the steering. IMO, the Audi steering is too light, but I appreciate the more comfortable interior and smoother, quieter ride. You can't go wrong with either car. I commute a total of 3 hours each day to school at USC. For my commute, I would pick the A4 ANYDAY. It's much more comfortable. Cruising on a wide open road, it's a toss up. In a race, I'd prefer the BMW.
