I agree, the Xenons on the E46 look odd. It apparently was less expensive to just use the lump of chrome (like a '58 Buick!) rather than include the glass surround to balance the looks. It just looks strange and cheap. I would not doubt a change is already under way in the design dept.

: Having just stopped at the dealer and looking at my 323i that just arrived, I was looking at the xenon lights that came with it. I stared at them for a good while and realized that the 323i next to it without the xenons had full symmetrical low and high beams and mine had asymmetrical looking lights now due to the xenons. How many feel that the cosmetic look of the quad lights is now somehow disturbed by the odd shape of the convex low beam xenon lights? After seeing my future car with the xenons, somehow I feel weird. In a way, I guess I am not recommending them to those of you who are concerened with disturbing the beautiful front end of the stock E46 without the xenons.

: I am hoping their function at night sort of makes me forget about the cosmetic change it made to my car in daytime. I really wish the design was more subtle and not so drastic, like the 5 or 7 series xenons.
