Am considering an automatic (god forbid me from myself). Am a die hard stick shift fanatic but I have seriously started to consider whether my foot tendon problems are due to too much shifting in my 6 cylinder Mazda 626. Then again, it may be that my current car has a hard clutch. I could not test drive a single 328i stick shift since my dealer did not have any. For now, I have ordered it with an automatic - any thoughts for someone who lives in a metropolitan area with constant shifting. Any thought from people who have had similar withdrawal symptoms. I hope I do not feel ashamed of looking like a yuppie with a leather upholstered sport packaged black 328i with an automatic transmission.

: Having driven both in manual, I think the 323i has a deeper and somewhat stiffer clutch (but already light when compared to E36s). Shift throw is about the same, but shift gate action is more precise on the BMW, generally a stronger in-gear feeling you'll enjoy being able to almost diagonally shift from 4th to 5th without having to pass thru the neutral position. BTW the 323 is a lot more powerful even though 1.8T is not bad for a 4-cylinder.
: : What are the pros / cons of the BMW 323i CLUTCH and MANUAL TRANSMISSION vs. that of the AUDI A4 1.8T?

: : Thanks.
