Let me CLEARifly, brake lenses must be red. If you look at the cars with clear rear turn signals they have reflective portion that is yellow inside the lens, no just a yellow bulb.

Aftermarket clear do not have the reflective portion inside. I guess that's why the catalogs say these lenses are for off road use only.

Thanks for the CLEARification

: Actually that's not true. Some folks in the Honda Riceboy crowd are changing their *ENTIRE* red lamp assemblies to clear. I agree that this is incredibly stupid and of course illegal.

: However, clear rear turn signals with orange bulbs are legal. Quite a few cars come with them from the factory. Like the 1989-1994 Nissan Maxima, to cite an example. The 1999 Mazda Millenia. (I think) The current Kia Sephia. (I think) some Mercedes Benz models. The 1994-1996 Nissan Altima. And others that I can't recall...

: : So what you are saying changing them makes them legal?? Kind of like saying "Well Officer everyone else was going 80 mph, I was just keeping up with the flow of traffic. " I challange you to go to your local CHP office and have them look at them. Let me know what happens

: : I'm not trying to argue but I don't like to see people have to change out lenses. It's a pain in the #$%. I have been there and had the law explained to me in black and white. The law is very CLEAR, NO CLEAR TO THE REAR, lenses that is except for reverse and license plate. Let me know what CHP says.

: : Happy motoring

: : : Everyone changes there front and rear lights to clear on their Mercedes-Benzs and BMWs in California. My 300 CE has clear rear lights.
