: Hello all-
: I haven't been a visitor of this board for very long, but some of you may already know that I'm very interested in the new 323i(s), and will probably purchase one in the fairly near future. A my ripe old age of almost-23, I've decided that I want my next car to be safer than what I've driven in the past. By a nicely large margin.
: My first car was a 1982 Chevrolet S-10 pickup. Junk from the start, and only as safe as an early-'80s compact pickup could get. Next up was a Chevrolet Citation. A nice steel box... something I liked, next to all the plastic cars on the road. (Only too bad the engine had problems! But hey it was 18 years old.) Then a Honda Civic hatchback/wagon, with a nose that seemed to be 2 feet long. Great car, but all windshield. Now I drive an Integra, which I love, but I want to move up in the safety ladder.
: BMWs, as far as I can tell, have a pretty good record for crash tests, etc. I pay close attention to the Consumer Reports annual car reviews when they come out, but I'm anxious to see how the new 3-series cars fare in accidents.
: Not that I wish an accident upon any of them, of course!!
: So... if any of you know anything about how well they do, please let me know. Or, even any info. on the previous generation cars' results. The new ones are different, yes, and supposedly more structurally sound... but I can at least base my opinions on E36 info. Thanks!
