I have that issue of "Automobile" and saw the rendering in question (it also had a rendering of the X3). The article stated that it was a four-seater that had a removable (or sliding) rear roof panel. This transforms the car into an "El Camino-esque" vehicle. The illustration showed no rear seats with this configuration.

Not my cup o' tea but could appeal to the younger set. Fortunately, this car looks nothing like a Ranchero or El Camino. Who knows, this could be the next generation 318ti?
