I'm suprised that the car comes with synthetic oil. I've talked to a lot (well, o.k. 5 or 6) mechanics who all say the same thing - synthetic is fine, but no better than regular oil, it just allows you to go longer (get more dirt in your oil) before you change it. Personally, I like to use regular oil (Valvoline) and change it every 3K miles. My car is still on order, but I'm wondering - for those of you who have had your cars for awhile - will the dealer only do oil changes every 15K? If so, that "we'll service your car for the first 36K" bonus is pretty worthless...

: Just ordered my 323i and was curious about regular vs. Synthetic oil, On an earlier post I was told Mobil one or the BMW syn. Does it hurt/help the engine to use synthetic? I was told it doesn't compress the seals as well are regular and causes leaks so you cannot switch to syn until the seals are firmly in place? What milage is it ok to switch to synthetic? Also what about replacing the stock airfilter with a preformance one? I'd like to get any extra power/preformance out of the engine as possible without getting into a ton of mods etc, just a few simple things any suggestions on filters or anything else? thanks Ohh one other question I've only seen the sports package with the M areo package, whats the difference in it doesn't have it?
