In Reply to: E46 a 5er clone ???!!!! posted by Nick on February 16, 1999 at 12:04:43:

: Bought my 328-E46 almost a month ago, but traded back last week for a 99-528.

: The E46 was not what I expected. Why?

: Few things:

: Handling: The car driving past the 80s seemed not as stable as I had anticipated. Felt like going "fast". Remarkably, in my old E36 fast was not "too fast". Still had some extra speed miles to go before holding up the pedal.

: Looks: Inside looked bigger than the previous E36, but on the outside for some reason smaller and too toyish. I still believe the E36 has much better looks. This one looked to me like a 5er clone. Not the 3 series ultimate driving machine I was once used to. I asked myself many times the same question, where did it go?

: CD: The stock premium stereo not worth the price, the CD skipped over small bumps. Annoying.

: Air noise: There was some mild air noise coming from the driver's side at high speeds (80+). Annoying too.

: Where is the 3 series kick ass identity? Lost ?

: I personally feel the new 528 changes MOST of that. At least I feel in was getting a true 5er. Not a 7er clone.

: Sorry guys, but THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION, I like the 3 series, always will, but I believe I did what I had to. My new 528 worth the extra bucks. Maybe next time.

: Anyone with the same dilema?
