: Resemblance to Civic is not that suprising - the current Civic coupe is a dead-ringer for the E36. I think Honda did a good job of borrowing the best style elements of the E36 when they designed the current generation Civic.

: Regarding the "cheap" black trim - this is a taste issue. 323i gets black trim all around, while the 328 gets chrome around the windows.

: Note that on the current 5-series, the trim is chrome all around, and the black trim is considered an extra cost feature! (It's sold as the "Shadowline" option in other countries, and bundled with the Sports Package in NA.)
