4 cylinder with 20 valves. 1.8 liters. K03 turbo. 150 horsepower and 155 lb ft of torque with a flat torque curve from 1750 RPM to 4500 RPM. 23/32 MPG EPA rating. 0-60 MPH in 7.9 sec. Same engine is in the Audi TT putting out 180 hp. To chip the engine in the A4 to bring it up to the same output, it costs $175 for a chip from Neuspeed. It's a cool little engine. Feels like a 6 cylinder. Fun to drive. Not a burner, but it feels faster than it really is. Mellow engine tone. Screams when revved high. Of course, no one makes a better 6 cylinder than an inline 6 BMW engine. I would take the Audi 4 cylinder over a BMW 1.8 liter anyday though.
