The only problem I had was the fact that the dealer did not send my the right trim pannel. I think they sent me the one from 5-series (and in the transmitter itself it saied "E39"). I guess transmitter itself is no different - it only uses two wires for power.
The trim panel dealer sent me was also sand color, yet it was slightly different than mine. Also, it was slightly larger and did not fit into place. I cut a whole in my exisiting panel (not too complicated, if you are not trying to do it too fast).
I spent some time locating the wire that supposed to be plugged into the transmitter. BMW flashlight came in handy in the search.
The tramsmitter is fairly easy to program. The only complain I have is that it only works when the key is in accessory position or the engine is running. So I guess you have to close the garage door before you shut down the engine... have to change my habits.
Next step - installing the alarm (tonight).
