Anton, all kidding aside about the stupid things you have read on this forum, whose pertinence to the subject
matter at hand I cannot understand, clarify your statement about the E36 being 6 years old and the A4
brand-new. You are mistaken.
Now, in order to address the M3 statement (whose relevance is an obvious "mine is bigger than yours tactic"
with no relevance, either) the S4 has beaten the E36 M3. Pick up any magazine and compare the performance
numbers. You do not have to test the two automobiles at the same time. In fact, there may be actual same-time
comparisons of the two that I am not aware of. Furthermore, the move from 2 to 5 valves is NOT a major
redesign (it is the equivalent of having the same engine and a new chassis, e.g. E36 -> E46). I don't know how
you concluded what BMW's purpose in redesigning the E36 was but I can assure you that the crash worthiness
data in the Dec. Auto-Bild keeps the A4 ahead of the E46. The E46 IS NOT safer than the A4. And, although
the E46 is an excellent car it is not by any means perfect. (nor is the A4)
How old are you? What is this about the "2000 A4 is gonna suck"? You should practice politeness, accuracy,
and seriousness in your responses. The testosterone release was admirable, but I hope you do not do the
same thing when piloting your car. What do you know about the 2000 A4? Very little, as I am sure Rodrigo
does. At least he is speculating as he should about the improvements over this year's model while you didn't
even bother to address the Mercedes-Benz topic.
I hope that everyone who reads can understand that this forum is about communication not blatant ignorance
disguised as knowledge. I have never posted before but this time I felt I had to.
PS. My wife owns a A4 2.8Q, I have a 528i, and my brother-in-law has a CLK320. Don't call me biased and
Anton, don't practice stupidity.
