What I've heard is that they can fit the 7" units in but then have to use some kind of filler around the edges (ABS plastic, fiberglass whatever). The've done it on a bunch of cars (M-B etc) but I think I may wait. I imagine when enough of the new E46 are sold someone will come up with an exact fit head unit. Until then, I guess we wait!

: I've got the standard radio that came with the 328i. I'm not impressed. I listened to the HK system before ordering, and again, I wasn't impressed.

: I've taken the car to a few local stereo shops (Seattle area) and they've each told me that it's going to cost $$$ to get a different head unit in the car.

: Curious if any of you have taken the plunge. Are there any kits available (like are available for the non standard sized GMC and Chrysler radio locations).
